ANDREW COX

Andrew Cox is a proud Filipino/Australian who creates and lives on Ngunnawal & Ngambri country (Canberra) Australia. Currently, Andrew produces and leads Canberra Poetry Slam, the capital's new and exciting home for stories and spoken word. With a desire to see people experience poetry and engage deeply, his live performances are memorable for intensity, honesty and abstract storytelling. Andrew's work has been shortlisted for national writing prizes, notably for Innovation in Spoken Word and his writing published in multiple anthologies, recognised as an emerging voice in Australian poetry.
2018 saw the release of The Space Between the Words, Andrew’s first published collection of poetry.

Some highlights from the past 3 years of Andrew performing include finding various prominent stages the likes of - the Art Gallery of NSW, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney Town Hall, The ICC, Parliament House Canberra. Moments to note are performing as a featured act for Sydney Writers Festival & Sydney Contemporary Art fair.

Andrew creates art from the pursuit of being an important voice. Andrew uses art to see people have an experience more than mundane. Andrew uses poetry to connect with people, and ultimately, this is the goal for him as a writer who performs.
