a dollar in the pocket is worth 10 in patriotic investment
on these gurt and golden shores
in fair australia where we sing australia fair
for all those who have a fair go get a dollar
unless you’re not so fair and sing that praise song backwards
or refuse
that dollar soaked in the blood gold and horror
of all that this land
never gave willingly
darling
they sent the devil in first when they tried to steal this land
and in his hand
is a golden dollar
a golden fleece
a golden promise
of golden shores
and all that which can be fairly stolen
and darling
in fairness
maybe it’s time we learnt
that dollar undone
is the song of freedom on these lips
and that fairness returns to land where care comes returning
placed back into ground
that grew all this golden fortune fair
