Story-Fest 2018

Story-Fest, Australia’s only performing writer’s festival, returns to Sydney on 19-21 October with three action-packed days of poetry slams, talks, and live literary mayhem.

International Artists Announced

KAIE KELLOUGH is a poet, novelist, and sound performer. His emphasis, when performing vocally and electronically, is on narrative, diaspora, and noise. His upcoming book of poetry, Magnetic Equator, will be published by Penguin Canada in Spring 2019. He is the author of two sound-poetry recordings, two books of poetry, and one novel, Accordéon, which was nominated for the Amazon First Novel Award. Kaie is now completing his first collection of short fiction, which leaps time and latitude, and divides its consciousness between North America and the Caribbean.

This year we’re showcasing international artists from Canada and Singapore plus a poetry slam group from Nelspruit, South Africa. We’re pushing against the edges of language; redefining poetry and spoken-word. The 2018 program is our most provocative yet, with some controversial content and lots of surprise venues. We can not wait to reveal the full program soon.

In 2017 I jumped straight out of the Perth poetry scene into Sydney for the APS National Final. Story-Fest was like a welcoming hug in the absence of my own community, with truly incredible people - both running the gigs and within the audience. I’ll see you at Story-Fest!”
— Jesse Oliver, Australian Poetry Slam 2017 Champion

The Australian Poetry Slam also returns as part of Story-Fest with the Western Sydney, Sydney, NSW and National Finals.
