2.15pm - 3.15pm
Learn the nuance of haiku poetry and create your own in this collaborative, supportive and participatory workshop.
The guided haiku poetry instruction is by celebrated Sydney poet and literary expert Lewis Alan Trathen, who will share their literary expertise on haiku poetry in a guided writing workshop suitable for all levels of experience.
Lewis collaborates with workshop specialist Fayroze Lutta who will help you use typewriters to create your own personalised postcard with your haiku on limited-edition gold stamped postcards made by Sydney’s own artist and paper alchemist Fayroze.
Materials provided, just bring your imagination and you’ll come away with a shiny new haiku on a gold foil postcard!
3.30pm - 4.30pm
Bring your haiku to this romp through the traditional Japanese art form in a very western setting, and battle it out against other haiku wielders.
Current Death Match champion Kami McInnes will be hosting and putting his title on the line, and with the audience deciding the winners, you could be the next champion! Competitors will face off one on one in a best of five match face off, until the semi-final winner goes up against Kami in a death match to crown the new national haiku death match champion!
In addition to his current title of Death Match Champion, Kami McInnes is the author of two published novellas, has had his poetry published various journals, and has performed at various writers festivals across Australia. Come to the Death Match and TAKE HIM DOWN.
