Multilingual Poetry Slam, an initiative of Word Travels, celebrates diversity of language by holding an annual event for people to express themselves and their culture in their own words.

Each year, people from across Sydney are invited to perform poetry, share stories, croon lyrics and monologue their ideas about identity, culture and community in their native language. Everyone is invited to sign up to perform with original writing in all languages encouraged.

This year, Multilingual Poetry Slam is a part of Australian Poetry Slam Youth and open to performers 12-18 years old. Hosted by Eunice Andrada, the event will be held on Wednesday 17 April at Lost in Books.

In 2018 the Multilingual Poetry Slam was held as part of the IN OTHER WORDS Festival with Joseph Schwarzkopf being crowned champion.
