Melanie Mununggurr Williams is a Djapu woman. She is a mother, a wife and a writer. Many of the poems Melanie writes are about being Aboriginal, a woman and a mother. She writes about autism and how it affects her family and she writes about love, to name a few. She is training for a marathon. Melanie hopes that in doing what she loves and doing it with passion, she can encourage our youth, especially our girls, to do the same.
Melanie became the 2018 Australian Poetry Slam Champion and the first ever Indigenous champion at Sydney Opera House on 21 October 2018.
