Aishah Ali is a 20-year-old, fourth-year law and political science student who has emerged as a fresh new face of spoken word poetry in Sydney. Her poetry has been published in Bankstown Poetry Slam Anthology 'The Resurrection', The Dirty Thirty Anthology as well as Vertigo, Mantra, The Muslim Voice (Canada) , Whynot? and ABC News.
Aishah has featured at Sydney Writers Festival, Moonlight Feminists, Bankstown Poetry Slam, Word-in-Hand, Poetica as well as for a number of NGOs such as Batyr and Amnesty International. She's performed in the QVB to the Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, the Sydney Jewish Museum and International Convention Centre.
In 2018, she took the winning title at the Bankstown Poetry Slam Grand Finals with her team Mouthful of Melanin.She has recently performed in as well as co-wrote, the spoken word theatre production 'Dy(STOP)ia' for SWF.
